Del. Sallie Mae job fair attracts hundreds

STANTON, Del. (AP) - December 4, 2008 Company officials say at least 2,300 people have sought jobs online and more than 800 attended the job fair. Many financial services professionals were among the job seekers.

The company says it will hire 1,100 workers by the end of 2011. About 120 of those positions will be in senior management.

Delaware's unemployment rate was 5.4 percent in October, up more than one-half of one percent from September. About 21,000 Delaware jobseekers are unemployed.
