2 Delaware students robbed at gunpoint

Newark police say two University of Delaware students were pistol-whipped and robbed.

It happened around 1:45 a.m. Sunday as the students walked in the 100 block of Haines Street.

Police say as the robbers walked past the students, one student was hit in the back of the head by one of the robbers and then hit with a gun. The robber took the student's wallet and ordered him to the ground.

Police say the robber hit the second student with a gun, ordered him to the ground and took a cell phone from his pocket before both robbers fled.

Police say one student was treated at Christiana Hospital for a cut lip and a bruise on his head. Paramedics treated a bruise above the other student's eye.
