More than 100 online stores offer free shipping

December 15, 2008 2:09:59 PM PST
We've had Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Today is Free Shipping Day.

Luke Knowles of FreeShipping.org has convinced more than 100 merchants to offer free shipping to people who've waited until today to do their holiday shopping.

Among the participating retailers: Bloomingdales, Brookstone, Circuit City, Crate and Barrel, Target and Zappos. The date was chosen by retailers because it is the last day that most can guarantee purchases will be delivered before Christmas.

Knowles says online shopping usually drops off around December 12. This day is meant to encourage shoppers to keep looking for gifts and deals online.

For a complete list of participating retailers, go to the Free Shipping Day website.
