Police: Women ripped off disabled vets

PHILADELPHIA -December 16, 2008

Investigators from the Department of Veterans Affairs arrested Philadelphians Ginger Hendrickson, 46, and Laura Bell, 51, Monday. They worked as nurse's aids at the Veterans Nursing Home, located at 3461 Civic Center Blvd.

Officials say during 2008 the pair stole repeatedly from the veterans. The thefts ranged from $40 to $200, and the seven victims ranged in age between 35 and 80 years old. The total of the stolen cash was about $2,000, according to police.

Police say one of the veterans' stolen credit cards was also used to make several purchases worth several hundred dollars.

They are charged with theft, forgery, fraud and identity theft.
