Pet supply donation campaign

WILMINGTON, Del - December 17, 2008 In light of tough economic times, the Santa Paws Workshop will give back to the community by collecting supplies to give to owners who are having trouble affording them.

"The animals who really need help this holiday season are the ones that are already in loving homes that can no longer meet their pet's expenses," explained Patrick Carroll, Director of Development at DHA. "Santa Paws Workshop will provide a way for all of the generosity of donations during the holidays to get into the hands of people and pets that really need it. As a non-profit organization, this is our way of giving back to a community that gives us so much."

DHA will be accepting donations of basic pet supplies at the shelter during shelter hours, which can be found on the website. Items such as pet food, medical supplies, toys, leashes, bedding, monetary donations and others are welcome. They will be re-distributed to anyone who needs a little extra during the economic slowdown.

People are encouraged to drop off gifts for the Santa Paws Workshop in time for the holidays. Donations are being collected from now through New Years from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays; 4:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. Items will be handed out at the shelter on Saturdays and Sundays, December 20, 21, 27, & 28. Any leftover supplies will be available until they run out.

The DHA shelter is currently located at 701 A. Street in Wilmington, DE. For more information, contact the shelter at 302-571-0111.
