NJ promotes awareness of terrorism tip line

New Jersey's Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness is launching a public awareness campaign to encourage citizens to report suspicious activity to the state's terrorism tip line. Agency Director Richard Canas said Thursday that the agency has begun distributing newly designed poster boards with the phrase, "Our Most Effective Weapon Against Terrorism Is You. If You Suspect It, Report It."

They'll be displayed in police stations, places of business and other public facilities statewide. A similar message is being displayed on electronic message signs on major highways.

The 24-hour toll-free telephone tip line is 1-866-4SAFE-NJ.

There is also a newly established e-mail address, tipsnjhomelandsecurity.gov.
