Lehigh County commissioners voted Wednesday in favor of granting the company a 10-year tax abatement. The measure would expand a Keystone Opportunity Zone in Upper Saucon Township.
The proposal also needs approval from the township and the Southern Lehigh School District, even though they would face losing some property tax revenue in return for bringing the area an expected 200 jobs.
Upper Saucon is one of a number of possible areas /*Sanofi Pasteur*/ is looking at to relieve crowding at its outgrown Poconos campus at Swiftwater. With 600 employees using temporary trailer facilities, the company wants to relocate several hundred jobs.
