Fund for dead soldier's son looted

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - December 19, 2008 - Court papers say 21-year-old Jason Cote of Fitchburg, Mass., stole more than $8,000 from the Delta Tau Delta fund.

The account bankrolls the fraternity's annual Chris Seifert Memorial Golf Tournament. Seifert, who helped found Moravian's Delta Tau Delta chapter, was killed five years ago in a grenade attack by a fellow soldier.

The fraternity's Web site says the annual golf tournament has raised more than $40,000 for Benjamin Seifert's college fund.

Cote has been charged with theft. He's free on $10,000 unsecured bail.

No one answered the phone at Cote's fraternity house Friday.
