Officials see power in these pies

BOISE, Idaho (AP) - December 22, 2008

The state's energy czar wants to harness the output of more than a-half million cows in Idaho.

The state is the nation's number-three milk producer and those cows produce tons of number-two.

The idea is to process cow manure to create methane gas that would power electric generators.

Idaho Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter is pushing a package of tax credits and waivers to make the poop-to-power proposal a reality.
