But some people are placing bets on the new first-dog's name.
Dublin-based bookmaker Paddy Power says more than 1,000 bettors have made wagers on the name of the dog Obama has promised to get his children.
Power says most of the bets are small, $14 or $28.
Some early favorites for the puppy's name are Washington and Kennedy.
Longer-shots include names with a Republican twist, including Condi, Reagan and Nixon.
And at 500-to-1 odds, the dog will be called Osama.
