There were initial reports of people trapped.
Firefighters arrived and rescued one man from a third floor apartment; the man was transported to Christiana Hospital.
It appears as if at least two apartments sustained heavy damage.
The fire was declared under control at 5:19 p.m.
Possibly as many as 12 families are out of their apartments tonight.
