CENTERVILLE, Del. - January 1, 2009 - It started around 5:10 p.m. Thursday at the Centerville Veterinary Hospital on the 5800 block of Kennett Pike.
Arriving firefighters reported thick smoke coming from the building.
Rescuers quickly went to work removing cats and dogs from inside.
One person had to be taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation. That person's injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.
No word yet on the cause of the fire.
