56 drugs a bad mix with Viagra, Cialis, Levitra

WASHINGTON, D.C.; January 5, 2009

Public Citizen says the medications can have dangerous interactions with.... or reduce the effectiveness of those drugs.

The drugs range from antibiotics like Biaxin and erythromycin, to blood pressure drugs, like Cardura and Cardizem, to anti-depressants, such as Serzone.

The list also includes supplements, such as St. John's Wort, and a food - grapefruit juice.

They fall into 3 categories - those which cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure; those which trigger an overdose by keeping the body from eliminating the E-D medications, and those which reduce the effectiveness of the medication.

Public Citizen developed the list as part of its Worst Pills.org program.
