Delaware bank bandit identified

GREENVILLE, Del. - January 7, 2009 The robbery happened Tuesday afternoon at about 1:45 in the Wilmington Trust alogn the 3800 block of Kennett Pike in Greenville, Delaware.

Police tell Action News that the suspect, identified as John C. Mayhew, 41, of Wilmington, approached a teller, gave a demand note, and implied that he had a weapon.

The man ran off after getting cash from the teller and may have driven off in a gold 4-door Chrysler Sebring.

Mayhew is described as:

  • Light skinned black male
  • mid to late 20's
  • 6'00" tall
  • short hair
  • wearing a bulky dark colored jacket with a tan fur liner on hood; sweatshirt under jacket with a multi-colored cartoon bull, baggy jeans with some type of identification or pass hanging from the left front pocket, noticeable scar over left ear.
