Construction project draws skateboarders

WOODBRIDGE, N.J. (AP) - January 13, 2009 The Transportation Department inadvertently created a skateboard ramp while building a jughandle.

Councilwoman Patricia Osborne tells The Home News Tribune of East Brunswick the kids jump the curb in a parking lot, go down the embankment and shoot across the ramp. They turn around in between cars and "boomerang back."

The DOT plans to build a fence to thwart the skateboarders. But the fence won't be installed for another four months.

The project is scheduled for completion by late summer.
