Not your usual garden

Some people grow tomatoes, others try pumpkins in their gardens.

But Larry Meese has a most unusual garden.

He grows oysters.

Meese began gardening oysters in 2001.

He grows them in a wire cage in the waters near the mouth of Alabama's Mobile Bay.

Meese says he's eaten so many, he thought he should give some back.

Meese contributes his oyster crop to scientists who use them to seed depleted oyster reefs.

State officials say more than 30 volunteers grew over 59,000 oysters last year.
