Woman struck by car in New Castle Co.

Delaware State Police are investigating a pedestrian accident at Concord Pike and Naamans Road. The accident happened shortly after 8:00 a.m.

61-year-old Betty Johnson of Philadelphia was struck by a car traveling in the northbound lanes.

Paramedics treated her on the scene for injuries to her head and both legs, as well as a possible pelvic injury.

She was transported to Christiana Hospital by Police helicopter, where she was admitted in serious condition.

The area Ms. Johnson was crossing the street was not a marked crosswalk. She was cited for Failing to Cross at a Crosswalk.

The road was closed temporarily to allow the helicopter to land.

The road reopened at 8:40 a.m.
