Bail raised on sex abuse suspect

MORRISTOWN, N.J. (AP) - January 15, 2009 A judge agreed to raise bail for Manuel Fajardo-Santos to $300,000 dollars and the Wharton resident is expected to be back in county custody Thursday.

Fajardo-Santos had posted $75,000 bail and was released to the federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency on Monday. If he couldn't post bail with federal officials, county officials say Fajardo-Santos would be brought before an immigration judge who would likely order his deportation,to Honduras.

Another sexual assault suspect from Honduras was deported in December before he could stand trial on molestation charges.

Fajardo-Santos' lawyer says his client is presumed innocent and there is no proof deportation would take place.
