EASTON, Pa. (AP) - January 15, 2009 The Easton City Council voted unanimously Wednesday night to approve the appointment of Glenn Steckman III of Salisbury, Md., to the $90,000-a-year post.

Mayor Sal Panto Jr. has been temporarily filling the post as he and other Easton officials conducted two national searches. The job was created by a new Easton charter. It's designed to make running the city more professional and less political.

Among other municipal posts, Steckman has served as town administrator in Tiverton, R.I., and manager of Laurel, Del. He says he's most recently been working as a temporary administrator in King and Queen County in Virginia.
