5 children hospitalized after SW Phila. fire

Two people had to be rescued from a smoky house fire in Southwest Philadelphia overnight. Flames were first reported around 12:45 a.m. on the 6900 block of Greenway Avenue.

The fire department was able to rescue the occupants from the 2nd floor of the 2-story row house.

5 children were transported to Children's Hospital. Two adults were transported to The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Their injuries are reported to be non-life threatening.

The fire marshal is investigating the cause.
