Thundersnow is a thunderstorm in which snow is falling. It doesn't happen very often, but sometimes snowstorms are accompanied by thunder and lightning!

Erica's Answer:

Not only is thundersnow less common in winter than thunderstorms in summer, but thundersnow is also more difficult to observe. This is because the falling snow is a more effective insulator than rain, so the sound of thunder and the bright flash of lightning gets muffled by the falling snowflakes.
