Charges reduced in elder stabbing

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (AP) - January 25, 2009 Assistant District Attorney Tracey Potere says it's a sad case all around.

Suspect Christine Peters of Audubon remains in a Montgomery County emergency facility after an involuntary commitment.

Prosecutors say she stabbed the 81-year-old housemate in the torso and knee on Jan. 3. He has been released from a hospital.

Peters is charged with aggravated assault and a weapons charge. An attempted murder charge was dropped.

The prosecutor says police were frequently called to the home last year.
