Authorities were originally alerted after an employee of Paris fashion designer Sylvia Toledano saw a handbag that had been loaned to the show for sale on the Internet.
Prosecutors say Moreira also took coats, bags and suits by Burberry, Prada, Gucci, Fendi and Dolce & Gabbana. Authorities say the 16 items were worth about $30,000.
Moreira was scheduled to be arraigned Saturday. It was unclear whether he had an attorney.
