It happened at about 5:15 Tuesday morning near North 10th Street and Wagner Avenue.

A SEPTA official says the passenger train had stopped for a rail line red light, when the workers train rounded a bend and did not immediately see the passenger train.

18 people were on the passenger train. Officials have described the nine injuries on the two trains as minor.

The accident caused 20 to 30 minute delays on stretches of SEPTA's regional rail lines. Regional Rail passengers riding from Glenside, Warminster, West Trenton and Lansdale-Doylestown experienced delays because of the accident.
