Man badly burned in N. Philly fire

A 50-year-old man suffered 3rd degree burns in a house fire overnight in north Philadelphia. The fire broke out just before 2:30 a.m. on the 2400 block of North 3rd Street.

The victim was found in the basement area of the row house where the fire was concentrated. He was transported to Temple University Hospital for treatment.

The fire spread to two adjoining homes before firefighters were able to place the flames under control.

One firefighter suffered an eye injury. He was also transported to Temple for treatment.

No word on a cause of the fire.
