Richard Lugner is a 76-year-old real estate and construction mogul who loves the limelight. Each year, he invites a different female celebrity to accompany him to the annual bash in the State Opera, which attracts both socialites and dignitaries.
Sheridan, who was born in Britain, plays Edie Britt on the popular series set in suburban America.
Lugner's past guests include Dita Von Teese, Paris Hilton and Carmen Electra.
This year's Opera Ball will take place Feb. 19. Lugner announced his choice Wednesday amid much media attention.
