Phila. police officer shoots suspect

WEST PHILADELPHIA - January 29, 2009 It happened around 9:15 p.m. in the 600 block of North Sickles Street.

Initial reports say police stopped a suspect at that location.

The suspect reportedly pulled a gun on an officer.

When the suspect did not drop the weapon, the officer fired, shooting the 28-year-old suspect in the buttocks and left thigh.

The suspect was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in stable condition.

No officers were injured.
