Man robs NJ banks, escapes on bike

HI-NELLA, N.J. - February 2, 2009 - FBI spokesman J.J. Klaver says the man struck Monday in southern New Jersey for the third time since October. Each case the man, Klaver says the man has asked a teller to hand over cash, stuffed the money into a plastic bag, then pedaled away.

On Monday, he struck at a Hi-Nella branch of TD Bank a little after 8:30 a.m. wearing a black knit cap, sunglasses and an Old Navy sweat shirt. He's also robbed banks in Glendora and Blackwood.

He's described as a white man in his 30s, between 5-foot-10 and 6 feet tall, and 180 to 200 pounds.

Klaver says he's known of other bank robbers to get away on bus and by cab, but never on bicycle.
