Three homes hit by cars in one community

CLAYMONT, Del. - February 3, 2009 - Over the past two weeks, three cars plowed into three homes in Claymont.

One of the crashes happened at the Radnor Green home of Marie Case on January 25th.

Then, last Saturday, it happened again at a different house on a different street in Radnor Green. But, the scenario was the same. Another car plowed through a home with a family inside.

Another house was hit a couple of blocks away. All three homes were destroyed by runaway cars in the last two weeks.

Case's three-year-old granddaughter and son narrowly missed being hurt... Or worse.

"When I think that they could have been killed, it really upsets me," Case said. "I know things can be replaced."

But, there's no replacing the anger Case feels toward 21-year-old Richard Wright. He was allegedly arguing with a passenger over drugs when he slammed into Case's house.

Then, there is 20-year-old Jason Lockwood. He reportedly passed out at the wheel while huffing an illegal inhalant.

Michael James and his two children were inside playing with legos at the time.

"By the time I got to my house, he was going 65 to 70 and basically used his car as a missile into my house," James said.

He adds, his children can't sleep at night. They'd like to return home, but they can't.

The house has been condemned.
