Penn St. wraps up '09 recruiting

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - February 4, 2009 - It's the first day that high school recruits can sign national letters of intent, locking them into their college destinations.

Penn State already has a few recruits locked up after quarterback Kevin Newsome and three other players finished high school early and enrolled last month in college.

Newsome is a highly rated player from Chatham, Va. He's expected to be the backup to starter Daryll Clark this fall, and could take over the top job in 2010 as a sophomore.

About two dozen more recruits could make commit to Penn State by day's end.
