Cashier arrested for $71,000 theft

WILMINGTON, Del. - February 6, 2009- The discovery was made when a bookeeper noticed the head cashier for the store, Kyle Schuldt, had withdrawn $1,000 of petty cash to purchase supplies for a different Shop Rite store.

Police say the bookkeeper couldn't find any receipts from the purchase, so a more thorough audit took place.

That's when store officials uncovered a loss of $71,000 in cash dating back to April, 2007.

State police say Schuldt is cooperating with the investigation.

He has ben charged with a single count of felony theft and released on $10,000 unsecured bond.
