Arrests in soda vending machine thefts

On January 20, 2009 Coca Cola District Manager Ray Klaus came into the Atlantic City Police Detective Bureau to report numerous thefts from his soda vending machines. The machines are located in hotel guest floors in the Taj Mahal Hotel/Casino.

It is believed the suspects opened the vending machines utilizing a master key and removed all the cash from the machine.

Approximately 60 vending machine were struck by the thieves.

Mr. Klaus indicated the amount of the thefts was nearly $15,000.00.

Video surveillance of the thefts was obtained by Taj Mahal Security/Surveillance.

New Jersey Stae Police arrested Crystal Studstill, age 26 of Millville, New Jersey and her boyfriend, 28-year old Phillip Silvers at the home of Studstill. The arrests were made around 7:00 p.m.

They've both face theft charges and are being held in the Atlantic County Jail on $75,000 bail each.
