Delaware State Police say a 9-year-old Dover boy who was target-shooting with a .22-caliber rifle accidentally shot and wounded a man. It happened Saturday afternoon behind a home on Pickering Beach Road in Pickering Beach. Police say the boy found the gun in the attic of the home and was firing it outside. Authorities say a 61-year-old Felton man who was driving an off-road vehicle in a nearby field was struck in the knee by a round from the gun.

The man was treated at Kent General Hospital. A Dover man who was riding with him was not injured.
