Looking for missing lizards

Leapin' lizards.

Or make that missin' lizards.

Biologists want help in finding the spot-tailed earless lizard.

The 6-inch reptiles used to be all over South Texas.

But they haven't been seen in recent years.

Now, the Nature Conservancy and several Texas universities are rounding up volunteers for a lizard hunt this spring.

Nature Conservancy zoologist Mike Duran says they hope to have ranchers, farmers and hikers keep a sharp lookout for the creatures.

The biologists want volunteers to report the location of the lizards, but not try to capture them.
