Biologists want help in finding the spot-tailed earless lizard.
The 6-inch reptiles used to be all over South Texas.
But they haven't been seen in recent years.
Now, the Nature Conservancy and several Texas universities are rounding up volunteers for a lizard hunt this spring.
Nature Conservancy zoologist Mike Duran says they hope to have ranchers, farmers and hikers keep a sharp lookout for the creatures.
The biologists want volunteers to report the location of the lizards, but not try to capture them.
