Easton man to face manslaughter charge

EASTON, Pa. (AP) - February 10, 2009 Police say 22-year-old Tacarra Ward of Easton was shot in the face Oct. 22 at 20-year-old Andrew Freeman's house in Easton. She died Dec. 31 at Easton hospital. Northampton County Coroner Zachary Lysek ruled Monday that the death was a homicide.

Officials say Freeman first told investigators Ward was shot during a robbery, but later acknowledged she was shot as he checked to see if his handgun had a bullet in the chamber.

First District Attorney Terry Houck says an arraignment is scheduled Tuesday for Freeman, who is held in the Northampton County prison. It wasn't immediately clear if he had an attorney.
