The Screen Actors Guild and the studios said Tuesday they will meet for two days next week, without elaborating.
The talks on Tuesday and Wednesday represent the first formal meeting since mediated talks broke down in November. They follow months of internal strife at the guild, which fired its national executive director, Doug Allen, for a second time Sunday, following a written action that did so last month.
Allen had supported holding a strike vote but the leadership change makes such a vote highly unlikely.
