Poll: Corzine approval rating drops

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - February 12, 2009 The Monmouth University/Gannett New Jersey poll out Thursday found 34 percent of respondents approved of the governor's performance - which marks a return to the low ratings he held last spring - while 48 percent disapprove.

However, his rating remains slightly better than the state Legislature's. The poll found only 25 percent approve of the lawmakers' performance, while 52 percent disapprove.

Meanwhile, 72 percent of respondents say the state is generally on the wrong track, with 21 percent saying it's headed in the right direction.

The telephone poll of 803 New Jersey adults was conducted Feb. 2-8 and has a sampling error margin of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.
