Officers shot at during car chase

Philadelphia Police again came under fire just hours after Officer John Pawlowski was killed. Officers from the 22nd district spotted a vehicle that had been involved in a carjacking in the area of Sedgley and Lehigh Avenues just after midnight.

Police attempted to pull the vehicle over when the silver Toyota with two males inside began to flee from the officers.

Officers gave chase and at least one of the suspects fired at the cops from the fleeing vehicle.

It is unclear if the officers returned fire during the chase.

The vehicle then crashed a short distance later into a pole at 17th Street and Sedgley Avenue where officers apprehended both suspects.

Both were then transported to Temple Hospital for their injuries they suffered when they crashed.

The males face numerous charges.
