Police say a 12-year-old Pennsylvania girl found a loaded gun buried in woods near her home. Police in Exeter Township, near Reading, say the revolver was rusted and not operational but it still created a dangerous situation for the child.

The girl was outside playing with friends when she discovered the revolver late Sunday afternoon.

Investigators say she took the gun home and showed it to her father, who called police.

Police say the serial number was covered with rust. Investigators will try to clean the gun and restore the number to determine if the weapon was stolen or used in a crime.
