Every spring, third-graders across West Virginia are given a young cabbage plant to grow.
The next fall, the plants are judged and Allie takes this year's big cabbage prize.
The student at White Hall Elementary wins a $1,000 savings bond for college.
Her great-grandmother Doris Basnett notes the 15-pound veggie would make "a lot of cabbage rolls."
