Montco restaurant owner found dead

TELFORD, Pa. - February 16, 2009

An employee of Lisa's Pizza and Italian restaurant located at East Reliance and School Lane Roads in Telford made the grim discovery.

"Approximately 10 a.m. an employee of the store came in and found the owner deceased in the pizza shop," said Kevin Steele, the Montgomery County Assistant D.A.

The victim's name is not being released until all of the family is notified.

An autopsy is underway but authorities are calling the death a homicide. Action News has learned that the man, in his '60's, suffered head trauma consistent with a beating not a gunshot wound.

Detectives searched trashcans and storm drains near the restaurant Monday afternoon, although, they would not say if they were looking for a weapon.

"Just to make sure there's not something obvious in the area," said Steele.

Customers who happened by did not want to go on camera but told Action News the restaurant is about 15 to 20 years old and is a fixture in the neighborhood.

The owner who they knew as Joe, they said was a nice and friendly guy.
