New support group for police families

The wife of a Philadelphia cop has started a support group for family members of police officers, and is reaching out to those who could use a sympathetic ear.Christi Repici told Action News she was looking for such a support group after the death of Sgt. Patrick McDonald, who was shot and killed back in September.

After being unable to find such a group, Repici says she got in touch with the Fraternal Order of Police, and started her own meeting.

The first gathering was held last month, and another one is planned for Saturday, February 21st at 10:00 a.m.

It will be at:

Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge #5
1336 Spring Garden Street
Philadelphia, PA 19123

Repici says all family members of police are welcome, both men and women.

A doctor from the Counseling Network for Loss and Transition will be on hand to lead a discussion, following the shooting death of Officer John Pawlowski last week.

They will also be planning a collection of baby items for Pawlowski's pregnant widow.
