SF Mayor Newsom and his wife expecting 1st child

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - February 18, 2009 The mayor's office confirmed in a statement Wednesday that Siebel Newsom is pregnant. Spokesman Nathan Ballard says the couple "are thrilled to be embarking on this adventure together."

The 41-year-old Newson and 34-year-old Siebel Newsom will celebrate their second wedding anniversary in July.

Newsom, who is in his second term as mayor, has been raising money and traveling the state in anticipation of running next year to succeed Arnold Schwarzenegger as California's governor.

Siebel Newsom's acting credits include "The Trouble With Romance," scheduled to open in theaters this month.
