Bowie, Md. man wanted in Smyrna, Del. home fraud

SMYRNA, Del. (AP) - February 19, 2009 Police say 51-year-old Paul Barnes contacted a Dover man about being a real estate agent, saying he could sell the man's Smyrna home.

In July, the man gave Barnes a key and police say Barnes rented the home to a 61-year-old Smyrna man, while Barnes pretended to be the homeowner. Barnes was paid $5,400 by the renter as two months rent and a security deposit.

Barnes said he was the owner of JLR Group LLC and claimed he was a real estate investor.

Police have filed arrest warrants for Barnes. He is charged with felony theft and forgery.
