Suspect arrested in 'Petite Bandit' case

NEW CASTLE, Del. - February 26, 2009 17-year-old Penique Waymon, who resides in the 100 block of Foxfire Drive in Newark, has been linked to the attempted robbery of a Georgetown Village man.

The victim was accosted at gunpoint while entering his apartment building last Tuesday. He was able to wrestle away the firearm from the female suspect and turned it over to police.

The victim helped investigators complete a composite sketch of the suspect who was identified after the drawing was displayed in the media.

The arrest was made early Thursday morning after a source contacted police and provided Waymon's whereabouts.

Waymon's home was searched, and police gathered DNA, photographs, and fingerprint information. She was then transported to police headquarters where detectives were able to link her to the crime.

Waymon was arraigned and committed to the New Castle County Detention Center.
