Injected flu vaccine may work better

March 2, 2009

A study of more than a million adults in the military compared those who got the shot with those who got the nasal vaccine.

After 3 years, adults getting the injectable vaccine visited the doctor fewer times for the flu, or flu complications, than those getting the inhaled vaccine.

But the inhaled version is still believed to be more effective for kids, and doctors say if adults have NEVER been vaccinated, either type seems to work well.

But if you're flu vaccine REGULAR, this study shows the shot offers better protection.
