3 area health centers get federal grants

WASHINGTON, D.C.; March 4, 2009

The patient traffic at these centers has been picking up as more Americans lose their jobs... or their healthcare benefits.

Community health centers offer free or reduced-cost healthcare. In our area, there are several clinics that will benefit...

The Westside Health Center in Wilmington, Delaware will get nearly one-million, three-hundred thousand dollars.

Chespenn Health Services in Chester and Coatesville, and the Covenant House clinic on Bringhurst Street in the Germantown section of Philadelphia will get more than a-million dollars each.

ChesPenn executive director Michael Lucas says his group plans to create a full-service health center at a smaller clinic in Upper Darby now operated in conjunction with Crozer Keystone Health System.
