School fire prompts early dismissal

NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA - March 5, 2009 The fire broke out at about 5:00 a.m. on a wall heater in the first floor chapel area. The maintenance department was able to put out the fire, but smoke did move up into the upper floor classroom area.

Some students were bothered by the smoke, so the principal decided to close school for the day while they assessed the situation.

The school will also be closed Friday, March 6th for cleanup. Classes are set to resume on Monday.

There was no major damage to the building.
