March 6, 2009 1:02:05 PM PST
Malls around the area are cutting hours. See your mall's new hours here.Oxford Valley mall will be cutting about 4 hours a week.

Current hours are Monday through Saturday 10:00 a.m. - 9:30 p.m. and Sundays 11:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Effective March 8 the new hours will be Monday through Saturday 10:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. and Sundays 11:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

The reasoning is because the demand was not there in the suburban area of the mall to stay open those extra hours during the week; their goal is to manage expenses.

Department stores are in the process of adjusting hours also, but have not yet done so.

Montgomery Mall already cut about 4 hours a week.

Previous hours were Monday through Saturday 10:00 a.m. - 9:30 p.m. and Sundays 11:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Effective March 1 the new hours are Monday through Saturday 10:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. and Sundays 11:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

The reasoning is to reduce cost structure for the mall and tenets; shorter hours at the mall also help lower energy costs.

According to Montgomery Mall officials, the reduced hours are a better fit for the mall.

Preit Malls say business is slow and hours will also be cut at some of their malls.

Cherry Hill Mall will NOT be affected by the changes.

All other malls (listed below) will be closing at 9 p.m. instead of 9:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and will be open 11:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. on Sundays.
