Cab driver shot in carjacking

Philadelphia Police are investigating a carjacking of an Old City cab overnight that ended with the shooting of the cab driver. The incident started just after midnight near the intersection of 6th and Luzerne Streets when two men forced their way into the cab and ordered the cab driver to drive, they then demanded money from the driver.

The 52-year-old taxi driver was shot in the leg and forced from his vehicle in the 4500 block of north Fairhill Street where he then called 911.

The driver was taken to Temple Hospital and is in stable condition suffering from the gunshot wound to the leg.

Police later recovered the taxi in an alley off the 3500 block of North Marvine Street.

So far no arrests have been made.
